Our LTAC hospital system has an exciting opportunity for a Payer Contract Manager to join our dedicated and professional team, where we are committed to providing the highest level of customer service and quality of care to our patients.

Our healthcare company is leading healthcare in a new direction. Through our growing system of critical care hospitals, we provide solutions for patients who face a hospital discharge, yet still require acute medical care. Our patients may simply need additional time to recover from an illness or injury, or they may present medically complex cases that require a multi-disciplinary approach to extended acute healthcare. Our patients require a higher level of care for a longer period than the average hospital offers; but they are not yet ready to transfer to a sub-acute care facility, such as a skilled nursing facility, or to be discharged.

We are currently searching for an Payer Contract Manager to manage the payer contract function including growing and optimizing the assigned managed care portfolios.  

Job Responsibilities

Developing strategies for growing and optimizing the assigned managed care portfolios;
Creating and providing effective and influential communications to facility clients and operations;
Lead/oversee geographic contract negotiations and underlying payer relationships across enterprise service lines and encompassing varied professional and ambulatory surgery center based specialties.
Manage existing contracts to ensure contractual rates are achieved and revenues are optimized.
Create and maintain credible relationships with Operations, other stakeholders, and payers related to contract performance, contract operations, and contract negotiations.
Ensure superior client satisfaction through purposeful internal and external communication.
Prepare reports, modeling tools, analytics and presentations to efficiently monitor and report portfolio performance, the implications of negotiation proposals, and payer dispute resolutions.
Prepare internal training and educational tools as they relate to health plan contracting activities and, payment policies/methodologies.
Provide input to the appropriate individuals to contribute to the development of corporate initiatives and assume responsibility for communication and execution of corporate initiatives.
Effectively work in a matrix environment where multiple and competing customer demands are likely.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must be fluent in Microsoft Office applications
Must be able to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks effectively and efficiently
Superior verbal and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize work efforts, including personal as well subordinates' efforts, without sacrificing work quality or timeliness of completion.
Must be detail oriented and organized.
Self-directed with a strong bias for action.
Excellent customer relationship/management skills.
Demonstrated leadership and people management skills.

Proven ability to lead and motivate others to performance excellence while fostering a sense of teamwork as well pride in the organization amongst staff and volunteers;

Excellent written, oral and presentation skills.

Education Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent from an accredited university
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a healthcare/hospital environment, LTAC highly preferred.
  • Must have experience in managed care contracting, financial analysis, payment methodologies, contract language and negotiations and revenue cycle management
  • Considerable experience in a supervisory capacity
