Landmark Hospital of Southwest Florida has an exciting opportunity for an OR Circulator - Registered Nurse to join our dedicated and professional team. Landmark Hospitals are committed to providing the highest level of customer service and quality of care to those we serve.

Shift: FT, PT or PRN

Summary:

  • Monitors the procedures in operating rooms during operations and other surgical procedures
  • Assists by acting as an intermediary between the operating room staff and the rest of the hospital
  • Prepares the patient for the procedure and handles the preparation for the operating room
  • Assesses the patient's condition before and during a surgical procedure to ensure the best outcome
  • Works with a physician to develop the care plan for the patient during the surgery
  • Continues to evaluate the patient's condition during the procedure and makes changes to the care plan as necessary
  • Ensures that the sterile field is sterile and not compromised during the procedure. Keeps the surgical area clean and organized for the scrub nurse and the physician; removes instruments and sponges as they are used during the procedure.
  • May assist with supervising surgical technicians, and to transport any specimens that require diagnostic testing to the laboratory

Responsibilities:

  • Assesses the patient's needs related to physiologic changes, including thorough and accurate documentation as needed to support safe, quality patient care
  • Provides appropriate patient care and seeks assistance as appropriate and evaluates effectiveness of care given
  • Establishes a compassionate healing environment by providing emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients, friends and families
  • Utilizes knowledge of wound management in planning and providing patient care
  • Effectively collaborates with other health team members in planning and providing care
  • Performs various patient tests and administers medications within scope of practice
  • Assists the Care Coordinator with providing education and discharge instructions to the patients and families
  • Maintains nursing supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory levels; anticipates needed supplies and places orders

Requirements:

  • Current RN licensure in good standing with the State of Florida
  • BLS, ACLS certifications
  • BSN and CNOR preferred
  • Minimum of two years' experience as a Circulator in a hospital setting
  • Familiar with AORN standards and practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Superior analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Team, detail and goal oriented
  • Positive, professional and empathetic demeanor
  • Must have a strong attention to detail and physical stamina to handle long, arduous work hours
